# Seasons and the Library

Set these up before design starts each season.

## Start a new season

![Admin › Seasons, with 2026 active](https://2105095865-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FX3JOc9Z4ZYAoJCFFCn5v%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-4545e0fbfb98eed7a5963d9ee2c80e9b6dec23a8%2Fadmin-seasons.jpg?alt=media)

1. **Admin › Seasons**: type the name and click **Add**. The name must contain a year (for example "2027"), because part numbers and MO numbers use it.
2. Click **Set active** on it. Only one season is active at a time.
3. **Admin › Subsystems**: enter each subsystem's name and 2-digit code, then **Add to (season)**. The code becomes part of every design part number in it.
4. **Library**: check colors, materials and thicknesses are current.

A season can only be deleted when it's not active and has nothing in it.

## The Library

| Section        | Used for                                                                                         |
| -------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| Colors | Coating colors. A color named **bare** means no coating, so those parts skip the Coating station |
| Base materials | Material families parts are made from |
| Materials | Specific stock, with its sheet or profile thickness |
| Thicknesses | Tube and sheet thicknesses, shown at CAM and the CNC Router |

Library values feed New Part and what each station sees on the work card. Each section works the same way: type a name and **Add**, or **Remove** one. In Colors, **Set preferred** picks the default.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.raidrobotics.org/raidparts/admin-guide/seasons-and-library.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
