Leadership Roles
All team leadership roles will be established as laid out in the Leadership Selection section. Students in leadership roles are expected to be dedicated members of the team; attending all competitions, all meetings during the offseason, all build sessions, and all leadership meetings. Student leaders are expected to be able to effectively communicate with their subteam members and team mentors.
Team Captain
The Team Captain is responsible for all of the subteam captains. The Team Captain is also responsible for communicating all whole team meetings and build sessions. They also work with the faculty advisor and lead mentor over the course of the year as the point of contact for the students. Under the discretion of the faculty advisor and lead mentor, a Co-Captain may also be added on a season-by-season basis.
Control Systems Subteam Captain
Responsible for the robot code, wiring, and driver’s station. This student must:
Know how to program the robot
Be able to teach new students programming during the offseason
Know how to troubleshoot code
Be responsible for assembling an electrical layout for the robot
Create a feature map of the robot
Monitor external resources to track rule changes
Design Subteam Captain
Leads robot structure design and CAD modeling. This student must:
Know how to model in Fusion 360
Be able to teach new students Fusion 360 during the offseason
Create a CAD design notebook for competitions
Help construct prototypes with the Build team
Work with the CS captain to create a feature map
Monitor external resources for rule changes
Build Subteam Captain
Leads manufacturing and assembly of robot parts. This student must:
Coordinate & supervise building of the robot
Monitor robot weight
Know how to use all build room machines including the CNC router
Track purchases and materials via spreadsheet
Supervise tool and pit piece packing
Supervise pit work during competitions with Safety Captain
Maintain clean build room
Business Subteam Captain
Oversees all logistical and operational elements. This student must:
Understand branding manual
Lead sponsorship efforts
Ensure timely team apparel orders
Create themed visuals for the pit
Lead auction procurement
Approve public-facing team content
Lead Scout (Data Collection)
Creates scouting collection form and leads scouting data collection. This student must:
Not serve on the drive or pit team
Train scouts on pit and match scouting systems
Ensure match data collection
Help lead scouting meetings before alliance selection
Lead Scout (Strategy)
Creates scouting metrics and assists drive team in match strategy. This student must:
Not serve on the drive or pit team
Provide insights to drive team at competitions
Lead scouting meetings before alliance selection
Safety Captain
Implements and supervises safety standards. This student must:
Ensure safety gear is packed
Create and communicate evacuation plans for each competition
